How to tell if a deal is really a deal

By ClickAndPerk · updated 7 November 2026

A big red "was" price doesn't prove you're saving money. Before you buy, run these five checks.

  1. Check the price history. Shops sometimes raise a price for a short time before a sale. Price-drop alerts and price trackers show what the item really sold for over recent weeks.
  2. Compare the total, not the headline. 拢5 off is wiped out by 拢6 delivery. Our comparisons include delivery wherever the shop shows it.
  3. Check it's the same model. Sale versions can be older models or have different storage, colours or accessories. Match the full model number.
  4. Read the returns policy. Most online purchases in the UK come with a 14-day cancellation period, but marketplace sellers can add their own conditions.
  5. Look at the seller, not just the site. On marketplaces, check who is actually selling and their reviews.

If a deal passes all five, it's likely genuine. If it doesn't, set a free price alert and wait.

Prices and offers change often. Always check the final price on the retailer's site. Some links on ClickAndPerk are affiliate links; see How we make money.
